A faked document in Mrs. Gardner's collection of letters

I thought I’d share a piece I wrote for the blog maintained (curated, if you will) by the Collections Department at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, it tells the story of a purportedly historic check that was actually created by a very active forger of the period.
